Hi there and thanks for dropping by!
In addition to my role at the AHC, I am also a salon owner and hairdresser. I’ve run my own business for more than 30 years, so I understand what really matters to hairdressers and salon owners as well as the benefits being an AHC member can have to associate businesses and brands. I'd love to share with you a little bit about what we do at the AHC and how you can benefit.
The Australian Hairdressing Council is the national voice that connects hairdressing, beauty and barber professionals, educators and suppliers.
We're YOUR voice representing our industry's presence to government and together we elevate industry standards, reputation and image to create a better future.
The four pillars of the AHC define our principles when it comes to our members, the initiatives and campaigns that we work on and the future of our industry.
Elevating the hair industry’s reputation, credibility and image.
How? Through consumer PR and campaigns, H.A.I.R. membership (Hairdressing Australia Industry Register), presenting a united front, AHC accreditation process for Salon Select and RTO Select.
Uniting our industry. Together.
How? Networking events, online forums, closed social media groups, Schmoozefest (our annual networking event at Hair Expo), Youthworx membership (free for hairdressers 30 and under).
Connecting with Government and representing our members.
How? In addition to my role as AHC CEO, I am also a board member of COSBOA, the Council of Small Business of Australia. I represent the AHC at Parliament House and government events and bring the latest developments and updates for our industry to our members. The AHC also has close connections with bodies such as the Australian Taxation Office and the Fair Work Ombudsman, so you have immediate access to changes that affect your business.
Immediate access to our specialised HR lawyers for staffing advice as part of your membership.
How? Did you know that you have UNLIMITED access to our specialised HR and Employment lawyers as part of your membership? These lawyers understand our industry and can advise you about a wide array of issues concerning staffing and employment. Considering the average cost of gaining legal advice is around $300 per hour, this is an extremely valuable bonus of your AHC membership and gives you the peace of mind knowing that this asset is available to you with one phone call.
So, as a member, WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
The AHC understands that all business owners need to be informed and supported with industry changes or employee advice.
As a Salon Select member, you will gain access to the following, and so much more!
Already we have a network of Salon Owners, RTOs, Teachers, Young Guns (be sure to check out our free Youthworx membership) and business Associate Members, ready and waiting to welcome you to the community.
We'd like to invite you to join us - because you're exactly the kind of mover and shaker we'd love to have in our community!
CEO, Australian Hairdressing Council
