... And that's all folks! How did you spend Hair Expo 2016?

That's a wrap, folks!

Between all of the incredible hair, artistic flare and evening fanfare, it should come as no surprise that - as is the case with every other year - Hair Expo 2016 was a total whirlwind that was over before you could say 'more champagne?'... Did you catch up with us this Hair Expo?

Schmooze the night away...

If you didn't schmooze, you're sure to lose.... Schmoozefest 2016 was bigger and better than ever, with almost 200 of our industry's most prolific members joining us for an evening to remember!

With liveED capturing the entire event (as well as one or two classic interview moments with guests) and Anniss+Barton snapping well into the night, Schmoozefest proved to be the perfect way to kick off an Hair Expo. Chandon kept champagne flutes full all evening long and a playlist of '80s hits ensured that the vibe stayed up high... There truly was no better start to the weekend!

A huge thank you must also go to Paula Hibbard and Jess Williams, who tirelessly charmed guests and shared presenter duties throughout the night.

All about education, inspiration and industry elevation...

These three principles were perfectly embodied at the AHC RTO Conference, held on Hair Expo Saturday, that pulled together an impressive lineup of those in the know with one goal - to unite the industry and help us build to be bigger and better than ever.

Presenters included the Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, the Hon Senator Scott Ryan; the Shadow Minister for Vocational Education, the Hon Sharon Bird MP; Fair Work Ombudsman Emma Travers; Yasmin King, CEO of Skills IQ; Gary Workman, Apprenticeship Employment Network (AEN)
and Paul Frasca of Sustainable Salons Australia.

A huge thank you to our incredible speakers on the day for presenting on behalf of the Australian Hairdressing Council, and we look forward to seeing you in 2017!

GenNext is always one of Hair Expo's most eagerly anticipated evening events... And this year was no exception! With Toni&Guy pulling together an incredible show to finish off an incredible evening, it was an absolute privilege to head backstage with the team and get an up close and personal peek at their key looks... Check them out below!

Congrats to the Apprentice of the Year Finalists!

Call us biased, but there's something we just love about the Apprentice of the Year category... Whether it's the fresh new talent, pure passion for the craft or edgy eye, there's just something about that particular category.

With Mana Dave and Emiliano Vitale joining us on stage and asking the Apprentices a couple of questions as they worked away, it was great to see the pure passion held by this new guard of hairdressing talents. Congratulations once again to Kelly Manu (Blaze Hair), Tiffany Carn (Parlour Hair), Roxanne Benli (Rokk Ebony) and Louise Williamson (Stevie English Hair) for a job well done.

PS. An extra big congratulations to Kelly, who was crowned as our 2016 Apprentice of the Year later that evening!
